Potential Faults And Solutions For Parking Lot License Plate Recognition Systems

Nov 04, 2025 Leave a message

License plate recognition systems are now widely used in public places such as parking lots, highway entrances, and toll lanes. During use, some faults are inevitable. Below, COMA will explain several common faults and their solutions.

1. License plate recognition image cannot be output. In this case, check if the connection cable between the camera and control board is correct; whether the lens drive cable is broken or has an abnormal connection; whether the camera is outputting image data; and whether the recognition system is outputting image data.

2. "No license plate" display when a vehicle passes. This is generally a problem with the image input. Check if the license plate recognition camera is malfunctioning, if the image is clear, and if its position is offset. Adjust the camera position appropriately.

3. "Acquiring license plate" display. This fault is mainly caused by communication issues with the license plate recognition host and the industrial control computer. We need to check if the license plate recognition equipment is starting normally; whether there are any abnormalities in the lane network; or contact the monitoring center to check the lane configuration file.

4. When the vehicle passes by the camera coil, the software does not respond. This type of fault is usually caused by the industrial control computer not receiving the trigger signal, which makes the license plate recognition host and the toll collection software unable to work.
